Eames Vintage 1st Edition LCM Plywood Lounge Chair Manufactured by Evans - Ebony
What is it?
The Eames LCM chair or “Lounge Chair Metal” was designed in 1946, the famous design couple had been experimenting with molding plywood for a while including helping the U.S. Navy creating splints and stretches for World War II. The Lounge Chair versions of the plywood series are sat lower to the ground and angled to support the body shape and they do a great job, the perfect place to sit in style! The chair has been in continuous productions since its conception and sports a selection of different plywood finishes, the frame too can be found polished or powder coated.
What's special about this one?
You're looking at an authentic first edition Eames LCM molded plywood lounge chair. Manufactured by Evans Plywood in California circa 1946 before Herman Miller took over production.
The chair has not been restored and remains in original vintage condition with the majority of the original Evans plywood label still intact. This is a high value piece and a real collectors item, the resale value will only increase on this item as time goes on. I always love the vintage chairs with a black finish, my favorite thing is when the paint starts to wear and the wood underneath can be seen leaving a perfect patina. A beautiful vintage chair!
